Homeward Bound!--April20-22 and afterwards

It has been over five weeks since we arrived home on April 22nd.Life has been busy
since.I thought I should finish the 2010 Winter Adventure blog to let our friends & family
know we arrived back in Calgary safe and sound and enjoying life.
We left Golden Village Palms Resort,Hemet,California on April 20th passing through Las Vegas,
Mesquite,NV and Utah. After 4 new RV tires were installed in Beaver,Utah and driving 11&1/2hours that day,we stopped in Nephi,Utah for the night.
We got an early start April 21st.We travelled through Salt Lake City and the rest of Utah into Idaho and Montana. After another 11 hours of driving we stopped at the Flying J truck stop in Great Falls,Montana for the night.
After a good breakfast we were on the road again. We had no trouble at the USA/Canada border
bringing back extra liquor and paying the duty on it. We had spring-like conditions all the way from California. After 28-29 hours of driving in total and another 9000 kms. on our truck we got home at 3p.m. April 22nd and 18 deg.C.
Since we arrived home the weather has not been good. Some warm days but right now it is snowing and cold 2 deg.C. Winter does not want to leave! We spent six days out at the Esso Campground over the Memorial Day weekend working hard at the clean-up but having fun too.
We had a 60th Birthday party at our house for Shirley & Jean two weeks ago(beautiful day & evening). On a very sad note our friend Margaret Tedd died suddenly three days after we got back. We enjoyed Graham & Margaret's company this winter down south. We will miss her.
I am enjoying golfing every Tuesday morning ( 7:30a.m.) with a ladies league. We are enjoying our grandchildren Liam & Annika. Liam loves to come over for sleepovers. Almost four,he is quite a character. Such a fun age! Annika is sitting up now on her own and her hair is going curly.
As Annika struggles through her many challenges,Derek & Carol are amazing parents. Ralph & I
try to give them as much love and support as we can. We look forward to babysitting them tonight. Carol is healthy, getting quite big but has carpal tunnel in both wrists with this pregnancy. Carol is due July 2nd but they think she will have the new baby early. We are all very excited about the new little one. We will keep you posted.
Thank you everyone for your prayers and support. And thanks for reading the blog. It's been fun. Wherever life's journey may take you, we wish it to be a safe, happy and healthy one with not TOO many bumps on the road. HAPPY TRAVELS!

"RAMONA" April 18

Apple Blossom Festival-Apr.17

Hemet,CA April 16th--19th

April 16th
We went to breakfast at the resort before playing 9 holes of golf at Echo Hills. We had a hamburger and mango smoothie at the Palms Cabana for lunch. We listened to music while swimming. We played in the Friday night shuffleboard 7-9 pm. Marie got the high points award.

April 17th
Ralph and I drove north to Oak Glenn to attend the Apple Blossom Festival. Because the winter was cooler this year, all of the orchards were not out in bloom. We had a good time tasting apple cider, pies, jams, etc. and shopping in the craft and art shops. Ralph bought a enormous pie with 5 lbs of apples in it. We soaked in the hot tub when we got back.

April 18th ( Happy 40th Gary and Karen)
We did some grocery shopping in the morning. We left at 11:30 am for the Ramona Bowl Amphitheatre in Hemet to see the 87th year of the outdoor play "Ramona". We had some lunch, toured the museum and watched folklore dancers before the performance at 2 pm. The 2.5 hour pageant is a classic love story in early California life 1850's depicting the diversity of the Spanish, emerging white settlers and native peoples. It was spectacular--a natural setting with the mountains as a backdrop and a Spanish hacienda,200-300 performers(Indian hoop dancers,Marachi bands etc) horses,donkeys--it was s-o beautiful. I bought a hat and fan because it was so hot.Every woman received a red rose as they were leaving the performance.

April 19th
Ralph went to get diesel and fill up our propane tanks while I did laundry. The 200 Tiffin motorcoaches arrived today and yesterday. We are definitely enjoying our new rv site. We relaxed around the pool on a warm afternoon. We are getting ourself ready to head back north to home.
