Hemet California March 23rd--30th

March 23rd
We did some grocery shopping in the morning and went for a swim in the pool in the afternoon.
John and Lynda Brooks arrived at 2:30p.m. from Yuma. We invited them for supper.

March 24th
We spent a relaxing day by the pools. Sixteen of us including the Brooks went to the Hawaiian Luau at the Palms Cabana at 4pm. Everything was decorated near the pools with Tiki statues,
torches, lanterns etc. It was beautiful. Mai Tai's were $2.00 each. We danced to a Hawaiian singer and had a very tasty Hawaiian meal. After dinner we were entertained by a show of three Hulu dancers and a male fire dancer. Lots of fun.

March 25th
I prepared a bunch of appetizers and had 14 people over for happy hour. Ron and Marlene Annala came over. It was a beautiful day. After supper we played shuffleboard with the Brooks. GVP has a indoor shuffleboard building with 8 lanes and spectator stands allowing us to play in the evening. Most resorts have outdoor shuffleboards courts.

March 26th (Happy 2nd Birthday Annika)
We went to Echo Hills golf course with the Brooks. We walked the 9 hole course with a pull cart
$12.00 each. Good exercise. Very warm 27 DegC. Our beautiful granddaughter Annika is now sitting up on her own(a great birthday gift).

Sat March 27th (Happy 84th Birthday Mom)
We walked around the Hemet Farmers' Market with the Brooks. Afterwards we drove out to the Winchester Market. Very interesting--mostly Mexican vendors with all their beans and legumes. We said goodbye to Ron and Marlene Annala. They leave tomorrow for Calgary. We visited with Karen & Dave and Jack & Marlene.

March 28th
The Brooks came with us to San Diego, leaving at 7:30am(1.5 hours form Hemet). We took a 2 hour harbour cruise at 10:00am. It was thoroughly enjoyable--thank goodness there was a bit of a breeze from the water because it was around 31 Deg. C. There were lots of aircraft carriers
(Nimitz,Ronald Regan), two submarines,a cruise ship, sea lions etc in the harbour. The Midway retired aircraft carrier was there. We will tour it another time. San Diego is the 2nd largest navel base in the USA. We had fish and chips on the waterfront. We drove across the 2.1 mile bridge to Coronado Island. Thousands of people were on the beach. We dipped our toes in the Pacific Ocean. Very cold. We got back to Hemet about 6:30pm.

March 29th
Another very hot day over 30 Deg. C. I laid around the pool and read while waiting for the laundry to dry. We are getting hummingbirds around our bird feeder. We stopped by Dave and Karen's(Leduc, Alberta) RV site before supper. We played shuffleboard with the Brooks.

March 30th
The Brooks picked us up and drove 1 hour north of Hemet past Beaumont to the hillside area Oak Glenn apple ranches. Beautiful mountain countryside with apple trees coming into blossom.
We had lunch at Apple Annie's Restaurant and stopped at different gift and craft stores. We bought some apple cider and fudge. We continued driving by the many orange, grapefruit, lemon orchards. They were hanging with fruit. We stopped and had a beer at San Jacinto Legion.
We played shuffleboard after supper. (Boys 5 games girls 1)
