Dec.28th-Jan.6th Heading SOUTH

After a very busy and enjoyable Christmas week with Derek,Carol,Liam ,Annika and our daughter Karilee (Vancouver),Ralph and I headed south in our 5th wheel at 6am Dec. 28th traveling with John and Lynda Brooks . We left behind lots of snow and cold weather in Calgary.
We travelled 14 hours on clear highways and sunny skies -12 Deg.C .

Our second day was scary--snow and icy roads through Salt Lake City and most of Utah-- lots of vehicles in the ditch. We arrived in Mesquite, Nevada 9 hours later +12 Deg. C. We stayed overnight in the Oasis Hotel parking lot.

On Dec. 30th we drove 2 hours to Las Vegas and stayed at Sams' Town RV Park for 4 days.
New Year's in "Sin City" was a blast. We walked the Strip, enjoyed the downtown Fremont Experience and the great buffets and gambling. +16 Deg. C.

Jan. 3rd we drove 2 hours to Laughlin, Nevada. We are staying in the parking lot of the Riverside Hotel and Casino (free dry camping). With a tank full of water and the Brook's generator,it's working great. Many RV units do the same thing. I think we have visited every casino in Laughlin. We took a day trip to Oatman --an old gold mining town, lots of wild donkeys and gift shops. Yesterday we shopped at the Laughlin Factory Outlet stores. Tonight we have dinner/show tickets for impersonator Don Rose--celebration of Elvis 75th birthday.
