Jan. 10th to 19th Nevada to Arizona

We rely on libraries (closed weekends etc) for the internet these days. So bear with us as we continue our blog. We hope to download photos soon.

We enjoyed the sites and sounds in Laughlin,Nevada until Jan. 11th ---the many hotels, casinos, karokes and Street Rod Show. We spent the next 3 days at Buckskin State Park--a beautiful RV campground along the Arizona side of the Colorado River--California is across the river.
We drove 30 miles into Lake Havasu City on Jan.12th. We explored the city and the famous London Bridge. We took a ferry (22 min) to the California side and had lunch at the Casino overlooking Lake Havasu. We drove to Parker Dam and toured some of the many campgrounds along the Colorado River. Sunshine 23 Deg. C everyday. We will return to Buckskin for sure.

On Thursday Jan.14th we drove to Quartzsite, Arizona--town of a few thousand which grows to over a million RV'ers at this time of year. We decided to try boondocking--dry camping on the desert. It is a site to behold!!! We purchased a permit, filled our water tank and settled in sharing the Brooks' generator. We had tasty fish/chips at the Grubstake Bar and Grill. The female singer was very good too. The 27th annual Quartzsite Sports,Vacation and RV Show Jan. 16th to 24th is a must-see for RV'ers. We are within walking distance to all the vendors and big white tents from our spot in the desert. Free pancake breakfasts, chilli hotdog lunches etc.
Plenty to see and do. Some bargains also! The weather has been great-- sunny and warm 23 to 25 Deg. during the day but cools off during the evening. Yesterday we had occasional rain showers and 18 Deg. We are heading for Tucson on Wednesday Jan 20th. We are expecting a visit from Al and Diane Benner(Calgary staying in Yuma) today.

Mardi Gras here we come!!! Ralph and I have booked our flight from Phoenix to Lafayette,LA Feb. 10th to 19th to visit our Cajun friends. John and Sherryl extended an invitation to us to come and visit with them for Mardi Gras. We are very excited and looking forward to going.
